NEDAwareness spotlight: Creatively cultivating body appreciation

Inspired by NEDAwareness week, I want to help cultivate body appreciation. Body appreciation helps change the way we think about our bodies - it moves the conversation and our thoughts from "What does my body look like?" to "What does my body do for me?" Here are some fun, creative ways you can start appreciating your body:

1. Make a body appreciation statement. Ask yourself, "What has my body done for me?" Here are some examples of body appreciation statements: "My body has allowed me the freedom to experience the world - I've swam in turquoise oceans, skied down snowy mountains, and hiked through dessert terrain," "My body has birthed two children."

2. Get creative with your body appreciation statement.  Write your body appreciation statement down and put it where you can see it everyday, like a post-it on your bathroom mirror. You can get even more creative and make a beautifully framed artwork inspired by your statement and hang it on a wall. You can even create a digital artwork to share using social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, or Pinterest.
